INTRO TO CONTEMPORARY ART (AGES 9-12)

Instructor: Kendall Chandler

Uncover the themes, techniques, and materials exhibited in the galleries at Virginia MOCA, and discover the why behind the creation of contemporary art. Immerse yourself in the professional practices of a contemporary artist to conceptualize, workshop, and implement ideas through 2D and 3D art. Perform visual research in a handmade sketchbook, photograph objects with a digital microscope, and learn techniques in printing and casting. This experience gives students the tools to build a necessary foundational skillset to develop portfolio-ready, relevant, and meaningful artwork.
