Master Class with Barbara Campbell Thomas
Join Amplify exhibiting artist Barbara Campbell Thomas for a master class inspired by her artistic viewpoint.  Barbara Campbell Thomas’s works combine painting and quilting, overlaying their material vocabularies to create complex formal dialogues.

For the last five years, Campbell Thomas’s paintings have been deeply informed by an intense, near daily sketchbook practice.  She sees her sketchbooks as the most direct link between her everyday life and the abstract images that emerge from her studio.  They are also an invaluable tool for experimentation, discovery, and play—all key ingredients of a vibrant studio.

In this workshop, Campbell Thomas will offer ideas, exercises, and approaches to encourage new ways of keeping a rich, generative sketchbook.  Students will explore collage and drawing, as well as play with chance and experimentation.  Participants are asked to bring a sketchbook they wish to deepen, or even begin. Some collage supplies will be provided, though students are welcome to bring their own.
