Cyanotypes: Printing with Light

When exposed to the sun, fabric and paper treated with the light-sensitive cyanotype solution reveal original prints in an intense shade of blue. Artists, botanists, and architects have been employing this non-toxic light-printing technique in their work for nearly 200 years. Engage with artist Heather Beardsley as you investigate the ecologically focused art in our galleries, explore our grounds to gather natural materials, and block out images and forms on post-consumer plastic to create your own incredible cyanotype composition!
